Bye Bye Orkut

Most of my days start with scrolling thru my phone even before I get out of my bed.

Email, Facebook & Watsapp seems to be the first one to greet us in the morning.

Just like every other day I was scrolling thru FB and found that its buzzing with the news of Orkut being shutdown today.

Orkut – The very first social networking site my generation was hooked to.

Its literally been ages since I logged into that site and couldn’t stop myself from one last look.

Thou its been 3-4 yrs since I switched to FB, but logging into Orkut made me feel like I was back in the 90s. It seemed just - so simple :)

Yes that me !! With two heart symbols quoting my name :P Seems so stupid now.

Its like looking at an older version of myself. The naive & silly me :)

I just realize how much my life has changed and how much I have changed since then.

 

I couldn’t help but smile while I fondly gazed thru the old pictures and posts by friends. Frankly speaking I do not even recollect few names from that friend list.

But Orkut did help me find some long lost friends and some new friends.

So I took one last look and posted one last time - Goodbye Orkut !!

I won’t miss Orkut but I would surely not forget !!

One word  - Fantabulous !!

Kangana Ranaut stands out, Undoubtedly.  She has portrayed the character of Rani with so much ease. You just can’t take away your eyes off the screen, even for a minute.

From the typical Punjabi household spirit to the enchanting Europe  - The Director has got everything right. The undying trail of comedy and natural moments keep you glued to the screen.

All the supporting actors are also very convincing. Be it the carefree, live in the moment girl VJ (Played by Lisa Hayden) or around the world roomies. Even the bad guy Vijay (Played by Rajkummar Rao) makes us hate him.

 

Music is apt.  Every song suits the mood and seems like a part of the story rather than being squeezed in. Cinematography needs a special mention. Make-up or should I say no make-up look of Kangana is very refreshing.

What I learnt - Its life, Things go wrong. Buck up and help yourselves. You will always find friends and family along your side. No matter where the people are from, all of us experience the same emotions. Respect yourself enough to know that some people do not deserve a second chance.

2013 - The Flash !!

Can’t believe its the last day of 2013.

FB gives you the privilege of reviewing your year and as I do that, I realize its been one heck of a year. All these years of my life stand aside when compared to 2013.

This year I have experienced the highest of the highs and the lowest of the lows. One day I m the poor Cinderella being troubled by the evil stepmother and the Next day a Fairy godmother appears and Poooffffff - I m the Princess :D 

The most surprising thing about this year is - It all happened in a Glimpse. 2013 sure would be the Super Hero - The FLASH of the many years in my life.

This year made me see things clearly than ever before. I learned to be myself and love myself.
And for the first time in ages I am stepping in to a new year with least expectations and no celebrations, no resolutions :)

Candid Evenings !!

I have been living alone for couple of years now and kinda developed a liking for solitude. The convenience of being alone or hanging out with friends at any time and as I want is pretty addictive.

This fall I had to move back home. Moving back was a big change for me. Though I am delighted about homemade food & company of family, I miss the ME time.

It all started around a month back when one day I agreed to help Mom with the laundry and reluctantly climbed 3 flights of stairs leading to the terrace where we dry the clothes.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the view. Quite a few pigeons were relaxing around. And the sunset view was mesmerizing.  I spent close to half an hour that day discovering the various benefits of doing the daily chore of laundry – The sunset hill, Kids playing in the street,  Various birds flying across the greyish-orange sky, View of a Temple and a Church, Train Whistles, Market across the street, Cool breeze. A 360°view of greenery and so much more. I became a regular :)

Sometimes I forget that I am a photographer. It took me a week or so to realize that my terrace is a potential spot to practice my photography skills. I have been carrying my camera to the terrace every now and then. It’s the same place but every time I visit I get to see something new and have been trying to capture the scenic view.

Somehow I have started looking forward to evenings.  Its more like playing hide n seek with the pigeons as I try to capture their moments, I felt they were playing hard to get :P Later I just sit there and watch the sun go down. The whole sunset experience – only gets better n beautiful everyday.

Recent times have been similar to the middle of nowhere situations. Within this life of chaos these few moments of joy & peace have really cheered me up day after day.

The 'Y' Factor !!

The cliché statement – Everything Happens for a Reason !! 

I usually reward back people with a sarcastic notion whenever they try to comfort me with this statement. I am not an anti-positive person but at the same time I don’t buy the alls gonna be fine, its not the end or something better is gonna happen crap.

I believe in seeing things as they are and facing the reality. It makes no sense to me to be all up & cheery when you are actually dying inside. For me its ok to cry for a while & to do all that stuff you feel like doing when you are down. It’s a part & process of healing. Hiding & burying the pain would only make things worse.

Recently I had one of those nights where sleep eludes you and your brain kinda decides to replay your whole life in a cinematic fashion. After hours of reel play I magically happened to connect the dots. As the sky slowly turned blue it dawned on to me that everything actually happened for a reason. I would not say a good one but yes one thing happened to give way to another and so on. 

Times when I was thinking life is all very rosy but things ended up in a disaster and times when disasters ended up in awesome life changing events. Well I still do stick to my realistic approach but the repulsion to the above cliché statement has been subsided.

Happy events don’t trigger the WHY question its only the mishaps which force us to dig into the WHY factor. Sooner or later we all would find out as to why something happened.

So all the meetups, breakups, moving to a new city, losing a job, missing a flight & so on - Everything will make sense someday. You would probably figure this out when you are actually not trying to figure out. Yeah sounds confusing but that’s how it works.

I would not promote positivism here but yes its all happening for a reason. Only time would tell us if its for the Good or Bad. So quit analyzing WHY with a magnifying glass. Do what you gotta do. Smile, shop, eat & party when you feel like. Cry & let out when you have to, there is no need to candy coat your feelings. Eventually you would learn to go with the flow.

    Had a lovely evening with my friend at Vac’s… Clicked some nice pics and the most important, relished

    my favorite egg burger. Nothing beats its taste.

7- What are you wearing ?

    Quite comfortable in my night wear.

    I was not watching anything. Just completed the book “ Remember me”

9- Did you dream last night ?

    Yeah, well I dream a lot. My last dream was – I am at a office and I take a break, go the

    shopping  mall and shop a lot. Then I come back to office, Give a huge presentation about

    advertising a cosmetic brand.. Have no idea where I got that from... Weird huh !!!!

10- When is the last time you laughed till you cried ?

      When I was out with my friend, I was really giving out all silly expressions while she was

      trying to click pics. And she never used to say smile, just keeps on clicking.. Outcome ??

11- What is on the walls of the room you’re in ?

      Nothing except a wall clock. Somehow I never had any posters in my room.

12- Did you see something strange today ?

      Nothing as such.

14- What’s the last movie you watched ?

      Maryada ramanna… Just back from the movie. But the last movie I really loved watching was

      SALT. Women and weapon, very very intresting.

15- Should you be multimillionnaire, what’s the first thing you would buy ?

      I would go on a shopping spree. Clothes, footwear, jewellery, cosmetics, gadgets and off 

      course exquisite food. Would pamper myself with all the beauty treatments. My dream house, car,

      luxury holidays etc etc follow on later :-P and my dream vacation would be to a place  something

      like these :

      I am a great dancer. Fultu bollywood types. Have a love for every form of art. And quite

      good at all.

      My sun sign is LEO, just that I don’t appear to be. Be careful… Ggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

      But at the end of the day I am a very caring and loving person. Would do anything for the

      one I love.

17- If you could change something in the world outside of culpability and politics, what would you

      change ?

      Would try to eliminate poverty (no one suffering from hunger atleast) and save environment. Even a

      small act would make a difference.

18- Do you like to dance ?

      Like ????? I love it… Seriously considering getting back into form, for all good reasons.

      Shaadi tho hone do yaar.. uthna dur nahi socha ha..

      Yeah a lot.

      Welcome, a warm welcome. And off course he has to apologize for being unfair to me. And I am
